Expanding Opportunities for Boys and Men of Color
San Diego County is taking steps to address disparities faced by boys and men of color in the region. The effort is part of a national initiative from President Barack Obama, who recently announced the launch of the “My Brother’s Keeper Alliance” aimed at improving the lives of young men of color.
In San Diego, the County Board of Supervisors approved a partnership with the alliance to expand opportunities for boys and men of color. The partnership will focus on providing mentorship, job training, and educational support to help these individuals succeed.
“This initiative is crucial in addressing the inequities faced by boys and men of color in our community,” said County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. “By providing access to resources and support, we can help them reach their full potential and thrive.”
The partnership will also seek to address issues like poverty, violence, and lack of access to healthcare that disproportionately affect boys and men of color in San Diego County.
Through this partnership, the County hopes to create a more equitable and inclusive community where all individuals have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of race or background.
