Carry The Load Relay to Honor The Fallen starts in San Diego
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The Carry The Load relay to honor the fallen began in San Diego on Friday morning.
Participants in the relay walked from La Jolla to Camp Pendleton carrying the American flag as a way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The relay started at 7 a.m. at the La Jolla Veterans Memorial and is expected to end at Camp Pendleton. Along the way, participants will carry a “veterans’ baton” and walk through various communities to show support for the military and first responders.
Carry The Load is a non-profit organization that aims to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by honoring the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our country.
The relay will continue through several cities in California before ending in Dallas, Texas on Memorial Day. Carry The Load hopes to raise awareness and funds for programs that support veterans, first responders, and their families.
Participants in the relay are encouraged to share the stories of those they are honoring and to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.
