Polizei errichtet Zäune um ehemaliges GW-Camp, sagen 11 von 33 Verhafteten haben sich als Studenten identifiziert

WASHINGTON (AP) — Die Polizei hat um das ehemalige Zeltlager der George Washington University in Washington Zäune errichtet und sagt, dass 11 von 33 Verhafteten sich als Studenten identifiziert haben.

Die Beamten sagten am Dienstag, dass sie in dem Camp in der Nähe des Foggy Bottom-Campus sechs Personen wegen mutmaßlicher Drogen- und Beilagenvergehen und einem wegen sexueller Übergriffe festgenommen haben. Die anderen 26 wurden wegen friedlichen Widerstands gegen die Auflösung des Camps festgenommen.

Die Universität hatte das Camp am Montag geräumt und die Zelte entfernt. Die Polizei sagte, dass sie die Zäune errichtet haben, um zu verhindern, dass das Camp erneut errichtet wird.

Die Universität sagte, dass sie die Studenten ermutigt, an einem alternativen Programm teilzunehmen, um Hilfe zu bekommen, wenn sie obdachlos sind.
