Fünf Rote-Linie-Stationen in diesem Sommer geschlossen, Auswirkungen könnten laut Beamten erheblich sein

WASHINGTON – Pendler in der Region Washington DC müssen sich auf größere Verkehrsstörungen einstellen, da fünf U-Bahn-Stationen der Roten Linie diesen Sommer geschlossen bleiben werden, um dringend notwendige Reparaturen durchzuführen.

Die Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) kündigte an, dass die Stationen Rhode Island Avenue, Brookland, Fort Totten, Takoma und Silver Spring vom 1. Juli bis zum 11. September geschlossen bleiben werden. Die Schließung wird voraussichtlich zu Verzögerungen und Umstellungen im öffentlichen Nahverkehr führen.

WMATA-Beamte warnten davor, dass die Auswirkungen der Schließung ernsthaft sein könnten und forderten die Pendler auf, sich alternative Transportmöglichkeiten zu überlegen, um Staus und Überlastungen zu vermeiden.

Die dringend notwendigen Reparaturen an den betroffenen Stationen sollen dazu beitragen, die Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit des U-Bahn-Systems in der Region zu verbessern, das in den letzten Jahren mit zahlreichen Problemen und Ausfällen zu kämpfen hatte.
